Bounce House and Bubble House Rental

Los Angeles is a destination widely known for it’s perfect weather, endless coastal access, Hollywood glitz, and mind-bending traffic. But our city should also be regarded for other things, most especially the incredible variety of unique architecture that calls L.A. I grew up a big fan of Hilary Duff and always watched her movies. So when a friend of mine posted a picture of this house I knew I had to see it in person. It was a very short drive from Casa Walsh and was close to Eaton Canyon where I was hiking later that day.

I have not been able to confirm if the grounds are still open to the public during COVID 19. The Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills feels like the perfect home to kick off this list with. Visiting the grounds of this beautiful mansion is a favorite of both locals and tourists. The area is stunning and has great views of the city too. It is free to visit the grounds though occasionally the opportunity will become available to tour the inside for a fee. You can read about my visit here in my post on Greystone Mansion.

A 78-year-old curmudgeonly balloon salesman, is not your average hero. When he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America, he finally fulfills his lifelong dream of adventure. But after Carl discovers an 8-year-old stowaway named Russell, this unlikely duo soon finds themselves on a hilarious journey in a lost world filled with danger and surprises. It’s probably not so much a good idea for lifting a real house off of its foundations. But you know how the saying goes, “Kids, don’t try this at home.” Part of the fun of this video is seeing the VFX recreations of what it would really look like to life a house high up in the air this way. Let’s just say you probably wouldn’t want to look down.

A Cinderella Story House

I have toured the house for free on two different occasions which you can read about here. This is Doc Brown’s house in the Back to the Future trilogy. In the scenes taking place in 1985, the mansion no longer exists and Doc lives in his garage/laboratory which in real life is the carriage house turned giftshop. Located in Beverly Hills at 201 Doheny Road, the Greystone Mansion is often overlooked since its tucked away in the hills. Built in 1927 by oil tycoon Eduard L. Doheny, this well preserved Beverly Hills mansion on 18.3 acres of land is uniquely historic site and the gorgeous gardens are some of the most exquisite in the city.

Ellie is looking through her old scrapbook, which she eventually nudges toward him. It’s her final gift, and also a charge—she wants him to pick up where their adventures together left off. The Eames House, also known as case study #8, is mid-20th century modern architecture. The house was designed by the couple Ray and Charles Eames to serve as their home and studio. Free street parking is available on Corona Del Mar which is a five-minute walk from the house.

I wish I could visit the iconic Braverman house that Zeke and Camile owned on Parenthood but that was built on the Universal Backlots. However, there are locations where the many other characters lived that can be visited. This Pasadena home is where Adam & Kristina raise their three children on the show. As in their finest work, the Pixar filmmakers have created thrilling cinema simply by rifling through its history. In its opening stretch the new Pixar movie “Up” flies high, borne aloft by a sense of creative flight and a flawlessly realized love story.

The craftsman-style house is located near downtown Long Beach. North of Long Beach in San Pedro you can find the spot that was used for the school Anchor Beach on the series which you can read about in this post. Several homes get a little bit of a transformation for their on-screen appearance. However, I think one of the homes that looks the most different is the house from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Over the years the color of the house has changed several times, the white picket fence is gone, but the unique shape is still recognizable. The House from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is located at 1848 Oxley Street in South Pasadena.

I recommend stopping by for at least a quick visit if you can. Schindler's private residence is open to the public several days a week, and no reservations are required. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was filmed all over the LA area so I have been trying to visit as many filming locations from the movie as I can. Brad Pitt’s character lived in a trailer behind the Van Nuys drive-in theatre, which was actually filmed at the Paramount drive-in since the Van Nuys location no longer exists.

While you can go to the drive-in, the trailer is not there. But, you can see Leo’s Character Rick Dalton’s house. You cannot see the Boy Meets World house from the street. There are bushes providing a barrier between the home and the street.

Today it's open as a museum, located in Malibu Lagoon State Park and open to the public for guided tours. If you love arts and crafts architecture, this is the house for you. A well-preserved and fascinating example of Arts and Crafts architecture, designed by Greene and Greene, it was built in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company. Sitting directly across from the Bradbury Building in Downtown L.A., this building is one of the first movie palaces built in the U.S. during the 1920s.

I came here during the 2019 Museum of the Arroyo Day and really enjoyed it. The homes are beautiful and really take you back in time. The homes are a museum dedicated to the settlement and development of Southern California in its first 100 years. There are special events throughout the year that you can attend including Christmas movie screenings with Street Food Cinema in December. This home and park have such a wonderful variety of activities for visitors.

The Brady Bunch House has been one of the most exciting homes that I have visited so far. After HGTV did the makeover of the house I was hoping that they might open it up for fans to see. It just happens to be five minutes away from my favorite place to eat. I definitely recommend getting food from Aroma Coffee and Tea while you’re in the area. I am going to be honest and admit that I have never seen an episode of Mad Men.
